Energie27 is a free calculator that shows what the end of net metering on 1 January 2027 does to a household's electricity bill, and what changes with solar panels, a home battery, an electric car, a heat pump or a different contract, separately or combined.

In brief

• Free, without an account, without cookies and without advertising. The calculation runs in the visitor's browser.
• Calculates every hour of a year, with the visitor's consumption and the real hourly prices of the electricity market.
• Calculates with an hourly model of 25 parameters. Three of them are tuned to the kWh on the visitor's own annual statement (calibration). That is the starting point for simulating various scenarios: with and without net metering, with solar panels, a battery, another contract and more.
• Shows how changes interact: a combination can yield more than separately, less, or cost money.
• Compares fixed contracts on the model contract every supplier must publish, without welcome bonuses or promotions.
• No supplier or installer pays for a place or is sent customers. The data (rates, network costs, battery prices) are publicly available in energieprijzen-nl on GitHub.
• In Dutch, English and Chinese.

What it is not

Not a quote, not personal advice and not a guarantee: the result is an estimate based on what the visitor enters. Energie27 does not sell contracts and earns nothing from a switch or purchase. How the calculator works and which sources it uses is explained in How does this calculator work?.

Who makes it?

Energie27 is made by Zhi Zheng from Almere, an econometrician with more than ten years of experience in IT and process improvement.

With two aims: helping households make a good choice now that net metering ends, and showing what can be built with AI-assisted development.

How does energie27 make money?

At the moment, from nothing. No ads, and no payment from suppliers or installers, for a place or for customers. We only issue a licence for the dashboard for advisers to community organisations, such as a local energy advice desk. Companies that sell something themselves don’t get a new licence: that could cast doubt on our independence.

We earn nothing from you as a visitor. Links to suppliers and sources are ordinary links, without referral fees or affiliate codes.
