What is where on your annual statement?
Every supplier lays out its annual statement differently, but the same figures are almost always on it. Below is an example from a made-up supplier. The numbers show which figure goes where. Look for the same words on your own statement.
Only electricity counts. If gas is on it too, leave that part out.

What goes where?
- 1Period. Use the statement for the last full year. Does it not run from January to January? Enter it anyway. If your contract started later in the year, choose the month it started in step 1 under 'Not right'.
- 2Supply (also: consumption, usage, normal and off-peak, high and low, T1 and T2). Add normal and off-peak together. Without solar panels this is your electricity usage: that is the first figure you enter. With solar panels, enter it under 'Supply from the grid' in step 1, behind 'Not right'.
- 3Feed-in (also: export). Only with solar panels. Add normal and off-peak together and enter it under 'Feed-in' in step 1, behind 'Not right'.
- 4Price per kWh = supply rate + energy tax, including VAT. In this example € 0.12 + € 0.12 = € 0.24. Enter that under 'Electricity price per kWh' of your contract. If it says 'excl. VAT', add 21% (× 1.21).
- 5Fixed supply costs (also: standing charge, subscription) per month. Enter it under 'Fixed supply costs per month' of your contract. If there is only an annual amount, divide it by 12.
- 6Grid charges (also: transport costs, capacity rate). Usually you do not need to do anything: the calculator looks them up with your postcode. If the amount differs, enter the annual amount under Your home.
- 7Feed-in costs or feed-in payment per kWh. Only with solar panels. Enter them with your contract. If they are not on it, enter 0.
- 8Total for the year. Put this amount next to the result in step 1 ('Does it match your latest annual statement?').
- 9Do not use the instalments. What you pay in advance each month is a prepayment, not what electricity costs you. The amount you get back or pay extra says nothing about that either.
Let your own AI look it up
Do you use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or another AI? Copy the question below, paste it into your AI and add the PDF or a photo of your annual statement. If you have solar panels, a home battery or an electric car, also add a screenshot of the app of the inverter, the battery or the charge point, or the quote. You get the figures back with the same numbers as above, and at the bottom a block that you paste into the calculator under 'Let your own AI fill it in'. Energie27 does not see your statement.
Here is my annual electricity statement (it may be in Dutch). Find these figures and give them as a numbered list. Add normal and off-peak (or high and low) together. Leave out gas. For each figure, say where it is on the statement. If you cannot find a figure, or are not sure, write 'not found'. Do not make anything up.
1. The period of the statement (from and to).
2. Supply from the grid in kWh, total for the period.
3. Feed-in to the grid in kWh, total for the period.
4. The price per kWh: supply rate plus energy tax, including VAT. Show the sum.
5. Fixed supply costs per month, including VAT.
6. Grid costs per year, including VAT.
7. Feed-in costs or feed-in payment per kWh, including VAT.
8. The total for the period, without the instalments already paid.
Also say whether it is a fixed or a dynamic contract, and from which supplier.
Did I also give you something about solar panels, a home battery, an electric car, a charge point, a heat pump or an air conditioner? Then also look up: the generation of the panels in kWh for the same year, the number of panels and the power per panel (Wp), the capacity (kWh) and power (kW) of the battery, how many kWh the car charges at home per year, whether there is a charge point and whether it has a MID meter, and the usage of the heat pump and the air conditioner in kWh per year.
Then put everything in this block, in a code block. Keep the names before the colon exactly as they are. After the colon write only a number (without unit), vast (fixed) or dynamisch (dynamic), ja (yes) or nee (no), or the name of the supplier. Leave it empty if you don't know. For verbruik_kwh: with solar panels supply − feed-in + generation, only if you know the generation; without solar panels the supply.
ENERGIE27 verbruik_kwh: levering_kwh: teruglevering_kwh: contract: leverancier: prijs_per_kwh: vaste_kosten_per_maand: terugleverkosten_per_kwh: terugleververgoeding_per_kwh: opwek_kwh: panelen_aantal: wattpiek_per_paneel: batterij_kwh: batterij_kw: auto_kwh_per_jaar: laadpaal: laadpaal_mid: warmtepomp_kwh_per_jaar: airco_kwh_per_jaar:
Then paste the answer into the calculator: with the first questions under 'Let your own AI fill it in'. The calculator reads the block only in your browser and fills in the questions; the kWh of your statement go under 'Not right' in step 1, to check the result.
First make your name, address and customer number unreadable; only the figures are needed. An AI can make mistakes: check the figures against your statement.
With solar panels: your real usage
With solar panels your real usage is not on the statement: the meter does not see the electricity you use straight from your panels. Work it out like this:
supply − feed-in + generation = usage
3,000 − 2,000 + 3,400 = 4,400 kWh
You find the generation in the app or on the display of your inverter, for the same year. Don't know it? Then just enter your panels, and afterwards the supply and feed-in in step 1: the calculator then works out the usage itself.
No annual statement to hand?
- Look in your supplier's app or website; supply and feed-in are often shown per year there.
- With a dynamic contract you usually get a bill every month. Add up the kWh of twelve months.
- Read the meter. The difference between the reading now and a year ago is your supply or feed-in.
- Nothing to hand? Leave the field empty; the calculator then uses an average.
